This Single Cask collection has aged sherries described as “glorious” by Thomas Hudson, director at Christie’s in London, when referring to these vintages during their auction at the prestigious house.

Intended for the oxidative ageing of fortified free-run must, the 1935 cask held a wine that evolved to reach the concentration and character of an oloroso, with a palo cortado profile.

After nine decades of ageing wine, the wood retains a unique oenological imprint of extraordinary aromatic richness and concentration. The rum rests for three months in this historic cask, just long enough to take on new nuances without letting them dominate the whole or alter the balance achieved in the previous stages. The result is greater complexity, in which the aromas acquired throughout its ageing blend with those contributed by this one-of-a-kind wood.

The final rest

After its time in the 1935 cask, the rum is transferred to 16-litre glass demijohns, where it remains for more than two and a half years. This final rest helps its aromas and flavours to integrate, allowing them to reach their definitive expression before bottling.

The result is a deep and extraordinarily complex rum, in which aromatic intensity and richness coexist with elegance and harmony.

An exceptional sensory experience

Juanjo Mesa, oenologist and master blender at Williams & Humbert, describes the tasting notes of this extraordinary rum as follows:

“Deep mahogany in colour with golden highlights, Dos Maderas 1935 unfolds a deep, enveloping nose, with aromas of noble wood, raisins, sweet spices, toasted almonds, chocolate and vanilla. On the palate it is velvety, unctuous and balanced, with intense notes of wood, toasted nuts, vanilla and spicy nuances. Its finish is long, elegant and persistent, leaving a warm, complex sensation that invites you to savour it slowly.”

Dos Maderas 1935 is best enjoyed neat, served in a wide glass that allows its full aromatic richness to be appreciated, although it can also be enjoyed on the rocks.
