Vintage Amontillado 2011 La Duela

Bottle of Vintage Amontillado 2011 La Duela

This exclusive Amontillado, which reached 18% naturally, comes from the June 2021 saca drawn from Cask No. 4.

Bodegas Williams & Humbert has launched a new sherry for its vintage collection: Amontillado 2011 “La Duela”.

Vineyard in the Jerez countryside

This Amontillado is made from Palomino grapes from vineyards in the Añina and Carrascal pagos. After the 2011 harvest, free-run must was selected for this vintage. After a controlled fermentation at 17–22 °C, it was fortified to 15.5%, and biological ageing began spontaneously. This Amontillado was not fortified a second time, so it reached 18% naturally once the flor faded and oxidative ageing began.

After 10 years of static ageing in American oak casks, a saca was drawn from Cask No. 4 in June 2021.

Cask stave with red sealing wax

Amontillado 2011 “La Duela” is an extremely fine sherry, the purest expression of biological ageing taken to its limit and combined with the complexity of oxidative ageing. Amber in colour, with complex and pungent aromas, this limited-production Amontillado is dry, mineral and saline on the palate, with hints of nuts and a long, persistent finish.
