Williams & Humbert is one of the wineries with the greatest history and tradition in the production of Sherry wine and Brandy de Jerez, within the Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Designation of Origin, as well as spirits and food products. The firm has more than 50 proprietary brands of wines and spirits present in over 70 countries, with such iconic brands as Canasta, Dry Sack, Fino Pando, the VORS Dos Cortados, Jalifa, Canasta 30, and the VOS Don Guido, as well as the 15-year-old Don Zoilo range. The winery also possesses the oldest and most complete collection of vintage Sherry wines in the Sherry region, dating back to 1920. Among the spirits, Gran Duque de Alba Brandy, Cubical Gin, and Dos Maderas Rum are particularly noteworthy.
Founded in 1877 by Alexander Williams and Arthur Humbert, it is currently owned by the Medina family, who acquired the firm in the 1990s. Today, it is managed by members of the second generation, descendants of the Medina brothers: Ángel, Nicolás, José, and Jesús Medina, who started the family business in the 1960s. Since 2018, the Filipino businessman Lucio Co has been a shareholder in Williams & Humbert.
Located in Jerez de la Frontera, the Williams & Humbert winery facilities cover an area of more than 50,000 square meters, housing 60,000 American oak casks in which their Sherry wines, brandy, and other spirits are aged. Built in the mid-1970s, this winery—one of the largest in Europe—has been declared part of the Andalusian Immovable Heritage, due to the significant engineering and design effort represented by this unique Jerez winery.
The winery has its own vineyards in the prestigious estates of Jerez Superior, Añina, and Carrascal, benchmark locations known for the exceptional quality of their soils in the Sherry region. Furthermore, a significant part of its area is dedicated to organic farming, reflecting its commitment to sustainability.
