La Tuerta Funky Castizo, situated in the Madrid neighbourhood of Lavapiés, brings together the finest of traditional cuisine with cutting-edge mixology. All of this unfolds in a space with an industrial aesthetic, distinguished by exposed brick and metal materials, which its owners define as ‘open for construction’. This establishment has been open for only a few months, born from the union of four hospitality professionals with extensive experience in the sector: Víctor, Cisco and Eme, who joined forces more than two years ago at the Larrumba group restaurant, Peyote San, and have since been developing what is now La Tuerta. José, the latest addition to the team, is the person responsible for giving shape to the project.

The clientele who visit La Tuerta are characterised by their search for a different and surprising gastronomic experience. The fundamental focus of La Tuerta’s wine list falls on Sherry wine, accompanied by a small rotating selection from Taberna Distinto, of unconventional whites and reds.

The Sherry wines from Williams & Humbert are all present at the bar of this very special, unique and distinctive venue, and form part of both its gastronomic offerings and its avant-garde mixology. As a pairing suggestion, Eme Otero recommends the Focaccia Bread Toast with smoked sardine, fresh cheese cream and foie, accompanied by a Don Zoilo Oloroso 12 years.

Right now we are developing a project with Williams & Humbert of three cocktails in casks that were previously wine-seasoned at the winery, and we are genuinely excited about it

As for the mixology, La Tuerta Funky Castizo embraces a dual concept. The ‘Arte Castizo’ cocktail menu features crystalline and transparent cocktails, characterised by their clean and recognisable flavours and served in an original manner in glassware hand-painted by local artists. In parallel, the establishment offers off-menu cocktails that change from week to week.
