José Ferrer, Gastronomic Ambassador for Sherry Wines.
José Ferrer was the most recent guest at the Williams & Humbert Lecture Series, where he spoke on “Sherry Wines: diversity and versatility in gastronomy.” The Official Ambassador for Sherry and Manzanilla de Sanlúcar analyzed the role of our wines in gastronomy, demonstrating how the versatility and diversity of Sherry and Manzanilla make it possible for them to be increasingly present on restaurant wine lists. Furthermore, José Ferrer took a journey through the last decades of gastronomy and the latest national and international trends, explaining how this evolution represents a magnificent opportunity for the wines of our land. The experience accumulated by José Ferrer over the years has allowed him to develop a simple method for discovering the best Sherry for every dish. This method was explained in a practical way by the speaker so that any enthusiast or professional can apply it, and those attending the conference had the opportunity to participate actively in this fascinating experience.
José Ferrer Morató has been a journalist and photographer for over 30 years. During this time, he has worked for Diario de Jerez, Diario de Cádiz, Diario 16, and El Mundo. He has also published his work in Viajar, Club de Gourmets, Cocina Futuro, The Times, Yo Dona, Tiempo, and Fuera de Serie. He is a weekly contributor to the “Tierra de Vinos” program on Radio Andalucía Información (Canal Sur Radio). From 2002 to 2015, he was in charge of wine and gastronomy news for the Andalusian editions of El Mundo. He has presented papers and moderated sessions at recent gastronomic congresses such as Andalucía Sabor, San Sebastián Gastronómika, Forum Gastronomic in Girona and A Coruña, Gastro-Marketing, Copa Jerez Forum, and Salón del Gourmet. Ferrer is also a certified educator for the Sherry Wine Region’s Regulatory Council and, since the summer of 2015, has served as the Official Gastronomic Ambassador for Sherry and Manzanilla de Sanlúcar, carrying out intensive training work for professionals throughout Spain.
